Four-star quarterback recruit Bryce Baker will officially commit to the University of North Carolina after talking with newly signed head coach Bill Belichick (72).

The quarterback said on Saturday that he intends to sign with UNC and honour his commitment after speaking with Belichick on the phone this past Thursday.

Baker was the fourth-ranked dual-threat quarterback recruit in the nation and the number-one prospect on UNC's board. Now, the program has a fresh outlook heading into next season with a top quarterback recruit and the second-most-winningest head coach in NFL history looking to lead the program.

"(The coaching staff Belichick wants to bring in) has been on the level that I'm trying to get to," said Baker. "I feel like that separates them from a lot of other schools. They want to develop me, and they know the intricacies that will help me get to my goals. I feel like (Belichick) will bring in the right pieces to build around me. They're going to make me a priority."

Baker was going to hold a signing ceremony on December 18th after not going full-send with UNC during the early signing stages between December 4th to December 6th. The other two programs that Baker was looking to possibly commit to were LSU and Penn State.

He originally committed to UNC while former head coach Mack Brown was still part of the program, but Belichick's legendary status in the football world was enough to convince him to become a Tar Heel.

"I have to trust that he'll bring in the right pieces and the right staff to help me out as far as having success," said Baker. "I want to get developed and be as prepared as possible so when the opportunity comes, I'm ready to seize it."

Baker is coming off of his senior year at East Forsyth High School where he threw for 3,099 yards, 36 touchdowns, and only four interceptions, leading his team to a 13-1 record.

But the Belichick influence doesn't stop there - Tar Heels' offensive linemen Austin Blaske and Aidan Banfield have even withdrawn their names from the transfer portal to stay at UNC.

Fans could possibly be looking at a new era already ushered in at UNC and Belichick still hasn't hit the field yet with the team.
