Mia Blichfeldt will not participate in neither the individual European Championships in Horsens nor the Sudirman Cup, which is the World Championships for mixed teams due to a shoulder injury.

Blichfeldt will be out of action for eight to 12 weeks, says the Danish Badminton Federation in a press release.

"Mia is of course really sad to miss the two tournaments. She had good opportunities to achieve a really great result at the European Championships on home soil, and she had been looking forward to representing Denmark again at the Sudirman Cup in China."

"So it's really tough for both Mia and us, but injuries are unfortunately part of elite sport, and they never come at an inconvenient time", says Badminton Denmark's sports director, Jens Meibom, in the press release.

Mia Blichfeldt herself has explained the situation on Instagram, where she particularly expresses her annoyance at missing the European Championships.

"My dream and my big goal for 2025 to win the European Championships on home soil will unfortunately not become a reality. After a long period of pain in my shoulder, an MRI scan has shown that my biceps muscle has torn my labrum in my shoulder."

"I have chosen not to have surgery and will therefore have to go through 3 months of rehabilitation to regain mobility and strength in my shoulder. This also means that I am not allowed to have a badminton racket in my hand", says Mia Blichfeldt.
