There were bright spots in Kjaersfeldt’s performance, but at crucial moments, she struggled to match the Indian player’s high level.
After 39 minutes, she had to accept defeat, losing in straight sets with scores of 12-21, 14-21.
The Dane stayed within distance of Sindhu until 12-14 in the first set. From that point on, however, she lost her momentum, and Sindhu pulled away on the scoreboard by winning seven consecutive rallies.
Kjaersfeldt, ranked 25th in the world, kept her head held high and fought bravely in the second set against the world number eight.
She got off to a poor start in the set, falling behind 3-7. But she quickly fought back, winning three points in a row to close the gap.
Ultimately, however, the Dane lacked the necessary precision in her game. She struggled to hit the lines, often forcing her to play shots closer to the center of the court.
This made it too easy for Sindhu to handle, and she secured the victory in Germany in convincing fashion.
