"It is a huge, huge disappointment for me not to be able to be in Horsens. I had really looked forward to playing the World Championships together with the others, but unfortunately, it was not to be. I have to be content with cheering for them and the ladies in front of the TV and wishing them all the best in Horsens", says Rasmus Gemke in a press release.
Head national coach Thomas Stavngaard is also upset about Gemke's withdrawal.
"It is clear that it is a big loss for us to have to do without Rasmus. The task at the Thomas Cup was already difficult with a tough draw, and it will be even more difficult with this withdrawal."
"It will not be easy to advance from the group, but we still believe in it and will fight with everything we have to succeed, says the national coach.
Thomas Stavngaard has called up 19-year-old William Boegebjerg as a replacement. The other men's singles players are Anders Antonsen, Magnus Johannesen, and Ditlev Jaeger Holm.
