The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired first baseman Josh Naylor (27) in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.

The Guardians will be receiving right-handed pitcher Slade Cecconi (25) and a competitive balance Round B draft pick.

Naylor, the 2024 All-Star, slashed .243/.320/.456/.776 with 31 home runs and 108 RBI in 152 games this past season with the Guardians. The seven-year veteran will now fill a huge void for the Diamondbacks that was left by Christian Walker's departure.

Shortly after, the Guardians signed former first baseman Carlos Santana (38) back to the team on a one-year, $12 million deal pending a physical. Santana is coming off a Gold Glove-winning season with the Minnesota Twins in which he also hit 23 home runs and 71 RBI.

The former Guardian also posted his announcement on Instagram.

Cecconi threw a 6.66 ERA last season for the D'Backs. The two-year pitcher started in 13 games last season, giving up 92 hits and 17 walks in 77 innings while striking out 64 batters.

Despite the rough season, Cecconi could become a lethal pitcher in a Guardians' system notorious for turning out great pitching.
