The Cincinnati Reds acquired Gavin Lux (27) via trade from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, according to multiple reports.

The Dodgers are receiving minor league outfielder Mike Sirota and the Reds’ competitive balance pick (#37). Sirota was the Reds' 14th-ranked prospect.

Lux slashed .251/.320/.383/.703 in 139 for the Dodgers last season while putting up 10 home runs and 50 RBI. The former 20th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft will be used as a super utilityman for the Reds this upcoming season.

Lux played most of the 2024 season at shortstop for the Dodgers but also has a history at second base, left field, and centre field.

Sirota was originally taken by the Dodgers in the 2021 MLB Draft, but elected to play baseball at Northeastern before re-entering the draft in 2024 when the Reds eventually took him in the third round.

Sirota didn't see any playing time in the Reds' minor league system last year so the Dodgers are taking a gamble on him but it's probably no question that the organization values the 37th pick.
