The Marlins received Phillies' shortstop Starlyn Caba (PHI #4 prospect) and outfielder Emaarion Boyd (PHI #23 prospect) as part of the deal.
Luzardo, once looking like a true ace for the Marlins after a stellar 2023 season, is coming off of a rough year. He started off with elbow tightness and then missed the rest of the season after mid-June with lumbar stress.
In 2024, the lefty threw a 5.00 ERA in 12 starts. He gave up 61 hits and 22 walks in 66.2 innings while striking out 58 batters.
McIntosh slashed .246/.340/.385/.725 with 12 home runs and 55 RBI last season in AA. He started 45 games at catcher, 37 at DH, and 34 at left field.
Caba (19) slashed .228/.385/.284/.669 with two home runs 26 RBI and a whopping 50 stolen bases across rookie and A ball last season in the Phillies organization. Meanwhile, Boyd (21), the former 2022 11th-round pick, slashed .239/.317/.331/.647 with three home runs, 40 RBI, and 27 RBI in A+ ball.
Luzardo will be joining recent signee Joe Ross (31) as a member of a Phillies team that ranked 11th last year in team ERA (3.85) while Caba and Boyd will look to be two young speedsters the Marlins have hopes of bringing up within the coming years.
