The Seattle Mariners signed infielder Donovan Solano (37) on Monday to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million.

The 11-year veteran provides a nice bat and glove for a Mariners team that's been looking for a player like Solano for a long time. Solano slashed .286/.343/.417/.760 last season while playing games at both third base and first base for the Padres

Solano is even coming off of a season where he sat a career-high in home runs with eight. While it's not much, the seasoned veteran from Colombia can definitely provide the Mariners a boost in the lineup the ranked 29th in batting average last season.

Solano, a .279 hitter, played in the minors during the 2017 and 2018 seasons after struggling for a few years in the majors. Then he came back a newborn hitter in the majors and has yet to hit below a .280 average in the past six seasons, making him one of the best contact hitters in all of baseball.

Solano even won the Silver Slugger award in 2020 after batting .326 with the San Francisco Giants. Now, he'll provide a reliable bat to the Mariners, who now mark Solano's seventh team and his fifth in the past five years.
