In Flashscore's weekly feature, we take a brief look at the big talking points of the last seven days in the NBA. While the LA Clippers have been hitting their stride, the Denver Nuggets have suffered a real low point, despite the unrivalled genius of Nikola Jokic.

Team of the week

With the regular season coming to an end this week, have the Los Angeles Clippers suddenly thrust themselves into contention?

A huge part of that has been the phenomenal Kawhi Leonard, who - at this moment in time - is fit and healthy. The Clippers seem to have managed Kawhi well as we head to the playoffs, and fans will be hoping he can stay healthy come the postseason.

James Harden is also shining alongside Ivica Zubac, with the pair looking like one of the best duos in the league.

In the last week, the Clippers have claimed comprehensive wins over the Orlando Magic and the New Orleans Pelicans, as well as clinching two victories over the Dallas Mavericks.

The Western Conference is absolutely jam-packed, and anything could happen in the coming days. But as it stands, the Clippers have moved up to fifth and have a real opportunity to even finish as high as third. No one will want to be matched up against them.

Underachievers of the week

As it stands, the Denver Nuggets don't look like a team that are serious title contenders.

Despite possessing a Nikola Jokic who continues to play at a historic level (more on him later), his supporting cast just isn't up to scratch at the minute, and they continue to get mauled defensively.

Their week has seen them lose four games from four against the Indiana Pacers, Golden State Warriors, and the San Antonio Spurs, as well as suffering a truly heartbreaking double overtime defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite sitting in fourth, the West is just so competitive, so there is a distinct possibility that they could drop into the play-in tournament.

For a team with Jokic and such lofty ambitions, that would be a disaster.

Player of the week

Unbelievably, despite the struggles of the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic has had an utterly mind-blowing week.

The Serb made history in his side's defeat to the Timberwolves with a 61-10-10 stat-line - the most points ever achieved in a triple-double.

Against the Warriors, he scored 33 points alongside 12 rebounds and nine assists, before registering a 41-point triple-double against the Pacers (41-15-13).

Jokic is enjoying one of the greatest seasons of all time, and it still looks like he will probably finish second to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the MVP race.

Perhaps fans are just becoming fed up of his greatness. Because one thing is for sure, if he wasn't a three-time MVP winner already, he would surely clinch the award this year.

Play of the week

Ja Morant got into trouble with the NBA for persisting with finger-fun gestures during games, receiving a 75,000 dollar fine last week. However, Ja's genius was also on display, as he nailed this buzzer-beater to win the game for the Memphis Grizzlies against the Miami Heat.

Story of the week

Jokic and Steph Curry, two of the NBA greats, made history on Tuesday.

Prior to that night, the most points ever scored in a triple-double had been from Luka Doncic (60-21-10) and James Harden (60-10-11).

So as previously mentioned, while Jokic singlehandedly tried to guide the Nuggets to victory against the Timberwolves, he went one further than both Luka and Harden, scoring 61 points in his triple-double.

It is also the most points scored by a player this season, and he is on course to be the first player in NBA history to finish top three in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals.

Meanwhile, hours earlier, Steph scored 52 points for the Warriors in a victory over the Grizzlies. As a result, it became the first date in NBA history where multiple former MVP winners scored 50+ points.

A sensational night of NBA, where two legends showcased their undisputed and unparalleled quality.
