The Chicago Cubs clinched the No. 4 seed in the National League for the 2025 MLB Postseason after a 7-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.

Their win also earned them home-field advantage in the Wild Card round. They'll face the San Diego Padres for Game 1 on September 30th.

Chicago's win comes off four home runs from Michael Busch (2), Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Seiya Suzuki, who all drove in the team's seven runs for the game.

Starting pitcher Jameson Taillon earned the win after giving up just one run on three hits in six innings of work. Taillon wracked up eight strikeouts while walking two.

Cardinals starter Michael McGreevy earned his fourth loss of the season in his final outing of 2025, giving up three runs on six hits in 4.2 innings.

The Cubs originally clinched their postseason spot back on September 17th after a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates

With one more game left in the season, Chicago will either finish the year 92-70 or 91-71. As for the Cardinals, they'll either finish 79-83 or 78-84 as their season will officially end.

The final game of the series between the teams will be on September 28th.
