Indian Wells semi-finals and finals

It is crunch time at Indian Wells as the 'fifth Slam' reaches its conclusion this weekend! Kicking off the semi-finals at Indian Wells after a thrilling two weeks is the WTA event as world number one Aryna Sabalenka takes on Czechia's Linda Noskova from 00:00 CET.

Sabalenka has been at her imperious best over the last two weeks, failing to drop a set and swatting opponents aside with ease. Her toughest challenger came in the quarter-finals as rising star Victoria Mboko forced her into a first-set tiebreak and made Sabalenka work for her 7-6(0), 6-4 victory.

Her semi-final opponent, Noskova, has dropped just two sets en route to the semi-final, but has been blessed with a much easier draw than Sabalenka, and you would expect the world number one to be a step too far for the 14th seed.

The second semi-final sees Elina Svitolina take on Elena Rybakina at 02:00 CET in a clash between two in-form players. Svitolina has backed up her impressive form from Dubai last month with a great  fortnight at Indian Wells.

Her tournament reached new heights in the quarter-finals, however, after coming through a three-set epic against world number two Iga Swiatek. Rybakina, meanwhile, has cruised into the semi-finals as her only dropped set so far came in her first match of the tournament.

Over on the men's side, the two semi-finals are scheduled to begin at 19:00 CET on Saturday, as world number one Carlos Alcaraz takes on Daniil Medvedev and world number two Jannik Sinner faces Alexander Zverev

Alcaraz goes into his clash as the big favourite after winning every match in 2026 so far, a run that has seen him win 16 consecutive matches.

Medvedev was impressive in his dominant victory against Jack Draper in the quarter-finals, but he will have to up his level even further if he wants to come close to matching the imperious Alcaraz.

In the other semi-final, Zverev will take confidence from becoming just the fifth player to make semi-final appearances at all nine Masters tournaments after his quarter-final triumph over Arthur Fils.

And although Sinner has looked in fine form at Indian Wells, the world number two has had a mixed start to 2026, looking some way off his best, and Zverev can take encouragement from that.

The four finalists from the ATP and WTA tournaments will return to the court on a showpiece Sunday, starting around 20:00 CET, for an event not to be missed.

USA vs. Canada - World Baseball Classic, 01:00 CET

After a historic loss to Italy, the United States now have their backs up against the wall heading into the semi-finals matchup against their North American rivals.

Canada are now in their first-ever World Baseball Classic quarter-finals after coming out of their Pool A group in first place. Every step from here on is one for Canadian history. Now, can they get their get-back after the USA hockey team claimed gold over them in the Olympics?

The last time these two faced each other (2023), the USA mercy-ruled Canada in a 12-1 win in seven innings. But these are different squads with different styles and personalities.

Team USA lead all countries in the tournament with 41 hits and 10 doubles, while their pitching leads with 57 strikeouts - no other country has more than 50 at this point.

They'll see some new faces in pitchers Will Vest, Tyler Rogers, Tim Hill, and Joe Ryan, who will be replacing Tarik Skubal, Michael Wacha, Ryan Yarbrough, and Clayton Kershaw.

As for Canada, their 1.50 team earned run average is the best of any team still left in the tournament. However, they only have two home runs and have scored the second-fewest runs of the remaining teams (Puerto Rico with the fewest, who were part of their Pool A group).

But after Italy's dominant win over the USA, anything can happen with this game.

Six Nations 'Super Saturday'

After four rounds of enthralling action, the Six Nations draws to a fascinating conclusion on ‘Super Saturday’, with reigning champions France, Scotland and Ireland all still harbouring hopes of capturing the title.

Despite losing a 90-point thriller at Murrayfield last weekend, Les Bleus are in pole position to secure a second consecutive crown as they take on England in the late kick-off at 21:10 CET.

Playing last means Fabien Galthie’s side have the advantage of knowing exactly what’s required to become champions, as they head into the final matchday at the top of the standings, above Scotland on points difference.

Ireland host Scotland in the first game of the day at 15:10 CET, with both nations knowing victory (with a potential bonus point) would put the pressure firmly on France to beat England later in the evening.

Saturday’s other match comes in Cardiff, as Wales - without a Six Nations win since 2023 - look to overcome an impressive Italian outfit, who downed England last time out.

With the stakes at an all-time high, it promises to be one of the most exciting final-day rounds in the tournament’s history. Make sure you tune in!

Chinese Grand Prix - 08:00 CET

Formula 1 is heading to Shanghai for the second race of the season, where George Russell and Mercedes will look to establish their dominance.

Thanks to superior pace and strategy, Russell and teammate Kimi Antonelli were ultimately able to comfortably see off the threat of Ferrari and seal a 1-2 finish at the season opener down under, and it was the same story at the start of proceedings in China, with the Brit claiming pole for the sprint race ahead of the Italian and nobody close to them.

More of the same across the rest of the weekend, and it will already be very clear where this season's titles are most likely to end up.

If anyone can pose a threat to them in Sunday's main race, it will be a rejuvenated Lewis Hamilton. After being second best to Charles Leclerc throughout last season, he finished less than a second behind the Monegasque in Melbourne and beat him in sprint qualifying in Shanghai.

He also won the sprint race at this same track last season, and - including that sprint - has tasted victory at the circuit a record-breaking seven times in total.

The thought of Hamilton back at his best is a thrilling prospect, but fans are less thrilled about the new regulations. They produced a lot of overtakes in Australia, but happening purely as a result of energy management rather than racing ability, those overtakes didn't get many people out of their seats.

F1's hope is that the new style of racing will work better at a different type of track, but if it doesn't, they're coming under serious pressure to change the rules already.

In that sense and in terms of whether Mercedes will dominate again, it's set to be a weekend that tells us a lot about what to expect this season.

Liverpool vs Spurs - 17:30 CET

Could things be going worse for Igor Tudor at the helm of Tottenham Hotspur? No, not really. Since the Croatian came in as Spurs’ interim head coach, they’ve lost four straight matches, three of those in the league, capped off by a disastrous display at Atletico Madrid in Europe on Tuesday evening.

Heading into this weekend, Spurs find themselves just one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League, meaning they could find themselves in it come the end of Sunday if results go against them. That’s right, they are in a dogfight now, and there’s no getting around it.

What Spurs sorely do not need is a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the league. Granted, Arne Slot’s men are not having the best season themselves, and have recently lost to both Wolves and Galatasaray.

However, their home form is among the division’s top five records. And perhaps more worryingly for Spurs, the Reds have won the last three editions of this fixture, including 5-1 and 4-0 thrashings in the last two meetings at Anfield.

To make matters worse, Spurs haven’t beaten Liverpool in the Premier League since September 2023, and will be without key defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero this weekend.

There’s a chance Tudor might not even make it to the weekend, let alone past it, unless his side pull off a miraculous result.

One thing in Spurs’ favour is that they have a decent away record domestically this season. However, the way things have been going of late, it’s hard to imagine this match not being another torturous watch for Tottenham fans.

For neutrals, however, this is simply must-watch stuff as the trainwreck just keeps on compounding. Get the popcorn ready!

Como vs AS Roma - 18:00 CET

Ask a Serie A fan two years ago which game would be the one to watch this round, and they probably would have said Inter vs Atalanta or Milan vs Lazio.

Times have changed, with Como hosting Roma in a direct duel for a Champions League spot. Seeing that Italy will almost surely not win a European Performance Spot, the top four will be the UCL places.

It has been nothing short of a wonderful campaign for Como, who are in the running for a first-ever appearance in the UCL, or European club competitions, for that matter.

Currently in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, Cesc Fabregas’ men are fourth in the standings with many eyes on the club across world football. They are unbeaten in five across all competitions (3-2-0), conceding the joint-second fewest goals (21) and scoring the third most (46).

They will be in for a stern test against a Roma team desperate to return to Europe's premier club competition. The Giallorossi lost to struggling Genoa last weekend, the result being their third away defeat of the calendar year.

Making it more challenging for the capital club is the fact that they face Bologna in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 tie days later. So, squad rotation might be necessary for Sunday's fixture.

This is the fourth meeting between the two sides since Como’s return to the top flight. The home side has come out on top on all three occasions thus far.

Wesley Franca scored the only goal when the teams met at Stadio Olímpico back in December in a 1-0 Roma victory. They would love to replicate such a result at Stadio Giuseppe Sinagaglia this weekend.

So make sure to clear your schedule for this one, as it promises to be a huge match in the race for Champions League football.
