Odense playmaker Helena Elver has signed a two-year contract with Champions League winners Györ. The Hungarian club confirm on their website that Elver will join them at the end of the season.

Last week, Odense Handball announced that Elver has taken advantage of a clause in her contract to leave the club this summer. Instead, she wanted to pursue a change abroad, it said.

It will be the defending Champions League champion who will benefit from the playmaker in the future.

"I know the club well, as we have faced them year after year in the Champions League. I know Györ's goals and know what kind of professional staff and players work there", says Elver.

"Along with this contract, my childhood dream has come true", says Elver to the Hungarian club's website.

Elver has been in Odense since 2020, and says the time has come to pursue new challenges outside of Denmark.

"I have developed as a person and as a player here in Odense, and therefore I am also ready for a new adventure after the summer", Helena Elver told Odense Handball's website last week.

Györ has already got two players, Kristina Jørgensen and Sandra Toft, from the Danish national team in their squad.

Elver has played 45 matches for the Danish national team since 2019 and starred as one of the absolute profiles when Denmark won silver in December at the European championships.

She was also part of the team when Denmark won the bronze medals at the World Championships in 2023
