The Champions League final at the Final Four event in Budapest could turn into an all Danish affair after Team Esbjerg and Odense today avoided being dawn against each other, when the draw was made by EHF President Michael Wiederer in Vienna.
Team Esbjerg were drawn against the defending champions from Györ while Odense will face French outfit Metz.
Odense Handball has never previously participated in the Final Four. The past two seasons Odense stumbled in the quarterfinals, but this season they managed to take the final step after two close matches against Helle Thomsen's Ferencvaros.
Team Esbjerg have qualified for Final Four during the last four successive seasons. Last season Team Esbjerg lost by one goal to Györ in an intense drama in the semi-final.
Its the first time ever that two Danish teams have qualified for Final Four at the same time.
Final Four will be played in Budapest from 31 May to 1 June.
