Neves did not think his action was unfair when he was asked about it by TV2 Sport, but said:
"I've played three years in Norway, and I have a Norwegian girlfriend, so I speak and understand Norwegian. I tried to get a little advantage and find out what they would do. Then I could prepare the defense", he explains.
But Pytlick said after Denmark's game against Germany that he didn't like the action taken by Neves.
"We (Flensburg-Handewitt, Pylick's club, ed.) played against Saint-Raphael (Neves' current club, ed.), and there I found out that he could understand a little bit when we talked. I don't want to say too much about it, but I don't think it's okay either. First of all, you have to focus on what you have to do yourselves, and then you have to leave all that behind."
"I don't think it suits the sport that someone stands and listens in on what the others are doing. It's never really been used, so I don't see why it should suddenly be used."
Portugal and Norway drew 35-35, meaning that both teams have little chance of making it to the semi-finals of the European Championships.
