Norwegian national team coach Jonas Wille says that star player Sander Sagosen is ruled out for the rest of the World Cup after sustaining a calf injury in Wednesdays match against Spain.
"Sander is depressed about the injury. He felt that he was on his way back to his best", says national team coach Jonas Wille to Norwegian media VG and adds:
"He is finished for the championship. It's a shame for Sander and a shame for us. He is one of our leaders. The weight he carries against opponents is important."
Sagosen underwent an ultrasound examination after the match and will be on crutches the next days.
"Then we will see if there is tissue damage. And if there is tissue damage, it must be treated over weeks. Most likely it is a stretch that takes at least three weeks to heal", says doctor Thomas Torgalsen
Norway states that Sagosen will still be part of the World Cup squad and that they are not calling in a replacement.
