The NHL's four-game slate on Monday proved to be an exciting one as the Sabres took home a win over the Caps in a shootout while the Habs got the best of the Canucks in front of a home crowd.

Tom Wilson (18) led the way for the Capitals on Monday with two goals to tie it even 2-2 before the Sabres answered with a power play goal from Tage Thompson (19) to go up 3-2.

It wasn't until Aliaksei Protas (18) scored the lone goal in the third period to tie it up for the Caps 3-3. After both failed to score in OT, the Sabres earned their 15th win of the season with shootout goals from Alex Tuch (13) and JJ Peterka (11), both of whom scored the first two goals of the game for the Sabres, leaving with a 4-3 win.

Canadiens 5-4 Canucks

Five different players scored for the Canadiens on Monday night and it was topped off with Nick Suzuki's (12) game-winning power-play goal just 38 seconds into overtime. Cole Caufield (22), Kaiden Guhle (3), Kirby Dach (6), and Lane Hutson (3) all scored the team's goals in regulation.

The Canucks were up 3-1 before the Canadiens scored three straight themselves to put them up 4-3. Jake DeBrusk's (17) late goal sent it to overtime where Montreal made quick work. J.T. Miller (8) put up a two-goal night for the Canucks while Jonathan Lekkerimaki (2) scored the other goal.

Avalanche 3-1 Panthers

Carter Verhaeghe (10) got the Panthers on the board first but it was all Avs from there on. Devon Toews (5) scored two straight goals for Colorado before Mikko Rantanen (24) put it away for good with an empty-netter.

The Avs (25-15-1) are now 8-1-1 in their last 10 games while the Panthers (24-15-2) remain steady behind the Maple Leafs for second in the Atlantic Division.
