The Vegas Golden Knights signed left wing Brandon Saad (32) to a prorated one-year contract worth $1.5 million on Friday, according to the team.

This will keep Saad under contract for the rest of the season after being waived by the St. Louis Blues earlier this week. Since Saad cleared those waivers, St. Louis then put him on unconditional waivers, meaning a contract termination.

Saad was currently in the fourth year of a five-year deal with the Blues worth $22.5 million. He has seven goals and nine assists through 43 games this season.

The 14-year veteran is at the end of his career in terms of performance. But the Knights are taking a chance on Saad, who is just another year removed from scoring 26 goals in all 82 games for the Blues.

The two-time Stanley Cup winner will now be heading to the fifth team of his career. Saad is a former 43rd overall pick in the NHL Draft who spent his first four seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he was also voted to the NHL's 2012-2013 All-Rookie Team, before heading to the Columbus Blue Jackets for two years.

He eventually returned to Chicago for another three years before playing for the Colorado Avalanche for a year. He then signed the five-year deal with St. Louis.

Saad has 260 career goals and 255 assists in 906 games.
