Malmo won a thrilling battle of two teams in the top six of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), winning 6-4 away at Rogle to end their two-match losing run, while Farjestad ended their run of six matches without a win by hammering Brynas 7-0.

A 10-goal bonanza in Angelholm looked unlikely early on, as it took until the 13th minute for Lauri Pajuniemi to break the deadlock for the visitors, and though Dennis Everberg equalised two minutes later, the floodgates didn't open, and the first period ended 1-1.

In the second, William von Barnekow-Lofberg put the Redhawks back in front, and right on 30 minutes, Axel Sundberg put real daylight between the two sides for the first time, yet a tripping call against Petter Vesterheim allowed Felix Nilsson to halve the deficit on the powerplay before the period was up.

But once again, Malmo's better start to each period made the difference - goals from Robin Hanzl and Carl Persson made it 5-2 with 14 minutes to play. Leon Bristedt pulled another back in the final four minutes, only for Persson to grab his second of the game with an empty-netter 90 seconds later.

With 10 seconds to go, Lucas Ekestahl-Jonsson completed the scoring, but that was too little too late for Rogle, whose 6-4 defeat is their third in their last four matches. They stay third, as Malmo stay fifth.

Malmo were unable to climb as the team in fourth, Vaxjo, also picked up a win to maintain their three-point gap over the Redhawks and move within three of Rogle. They won 4-0 at home to HV 71, as Brogan Rafferty scored twice and Adam Ahman made 21 saves, as HV remain in the bottom two.

All three are still far behind the top two - Skelleftea won their seventh match in succession, but needed two goals in the last two minutes from Oscar Lindberg to win 2-1 at home to Orebro, who travelled home still four points clear of the bottom two and with their hearts broken.

There was no such trouble for Frolunda, who maintained their nine-point lead at the top with a 6-1 victory at Djurgarden. The Gothenburg side were already 4-0 up after 20 minutes, as two Max Lindholm goals helped them to a third win in a row, as Djurgarden slip to ninth with successive losses.

Overtaking the Stockholm side are Farjestad, who not only ended their long losing run, but did so in fine style, thumping Brynas 7-0 for their first victory under new head coach Cam Abbott.

Jack Berglund's goal in the 13th minute was cause for optimism for Farjestad, who maintained their one-goal lead going into a second period which they completely dominated, beginning with Albert Wikman's goal which doubled the lead 70 seconds in.

The home crowd were finally allowing themselves to celebrate when David Tomasek and Filip Roos' scored within 17 seconds of each other to make it 4-0, before Michal Kempny's trip was punished by Oskar Steen on the powerplay.

There was still time for Marian Studenic to add a fifth goal of the period, before a slashing offence against Kieffer Bellows gave Magnus Nygren the chance to add goal number seven with just over a minute gone in the final period.

At the other end, Brynas only had 15 shots on goal, but Emil Larmi was equal to all of them to register a shutout. Farjestad are back up to eighth, while Brynas drop to 10th as their two-match winning run comes to a comprehensive end.

The third shutout of the evening belonged to Matteus Ward, who also made 15 saves in Lulea's 4-0 win over Leksand. It's four wins in a row now for the champions who strengthen their sixth place, while Leksand are still five points adrift at the bottom following three consecutive losses.

Timra came from 3-0 down to 3-2 in the final minutes away at Linkoping, only for the hosts to twice find the empty net late on and run out 5-2 victors. Linkoping are now just one point outside the Playoff places after a first win in four, while Timra are now four points shy of the top six.
