Recent Champions Hockey League action for Brynas made Rogle the better-rested side for this encounter, but that didn't seem to be helping them just over five minutes in when Linus Olund put the home side ahead.
But Rogle put that bad start and their poor form behind them in the second period, or at least Linus Sandin did. He levelled the scores within four minutes of the restart, before adding a second on a powerplay late in the period.
However, the visitors were unable to see out the win, and with just over four minutes to play, Michal Kempny and Johan Larsson combined to set up Kieffer Bellows to equalise and send the match to overtime.
The extra period lasted nearly four-and-a-half minutes, and at the end it was the home side celebrating, as this time Kempny worked with Jakob Silfverberg to find Anton Rodin, whose winning goal gave Brynas a third win in a row, as they move up to eighth.
Rogle are now seven points off first place as Frolunda won the top vs bottom clash away at Leksand, althought they needed late goals to eventually secure a 5-2 victory.
Plus, they have fallen a point behind second-placed Skelleftea, after Oscar Lindberg scored his second of the night in the second minute of overtime to beat Malmo 2-1 away from home. It's two losses in a row for the Redhawks, who are clinging onto the final playoff place for now.
Some good news for the Angleholm side was that the two teams below them failed to close in - Vaxjo were on the wrong side of a 4-3 game against Orebro which also needed penalties to settle it, while Djurgarden were ousted 5-3 away at Farjestad, who climb back into the top six.
Linkoping's climb away from trouble continues thanks to their third win in four - 2-1 at Timra - which sees them move into 11th. HV 71 stay one off the bottom as they were beaten by the same score against Lulea, who move into ninth.
