Denmark on Wednesday night recorded a 5-2 win against Slovenia in their final test before the World Championships which will start in nine days time in Herning.

Denmark's men's ice hockey team will head into its opening match in the World Championships in nine days time against USA on the back of a 5-2 win which they recorded against Slovenia Wednesday night.

In Maribor, Mikael Gath's team won their dress rehearsal over Slovenia, who are part of Group A at the World Championships.

Five different Danes got on the scoreboard as 29-year-old Nick Olesen stood out with both a goal and two assists.

The forward, who plays on a daily basis in the top Czech league, has generally had a promising run-up to the World Cup.

He thus scored three goals in total, when Denmark played twice against Hungary last week in a match, which ended in a 6-2 win and 2-4 defeat for the Danes.

Like Denmark, Hungary is part of Group B at the World Championships. It takes place in Herning, while Stockholm hosts Group A.

In addition to Olesen, Patrick Russell, Nicklas Jensen and Mikkel Aagaard, Christian Wejse also scored on Wednesday against the Slovenians.
