The Detroit Lions and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson agreed to a four-year, $180 million contract extension on Wednesday.

The deal includes $141 million in guaranteed money and will make him the second-highest-paid pass rusher in the NFL every year at $45 million, just short of Micah Parsons' $46.5 million with the Green Bay Packers.

The 25-year-old Hutchinson has 16 tackles, six sacks (t-7th in NFL), four forced fumbles (a career high and tied for most in the NFL), and one pass deflection through seven games this season for the 5-2 Lions.

Hutchinson missed most of the 2024 season after breaking his left fibula and tibia during a game against the Dallas Cowboys on October 13th.

The premier pass rusher for Detroit is already two sacks away from surpassing his 7.5 from last season and is looking to break his personal best of 11.5 from 2023.

As a former No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Hutchinson has established himself as one of the premier pass rushers in the entire league.

The former Pro Bowl was second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2022, after he finished his rookie season with 52 tackles, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions, and three pass deflections.
