Soriano, 27, was scratched ahead of his start on Saturday as the Angels stated they were taking a "prudent approach" with the trade deadline on Monday.
The deal comes less than a day after the Blue Jays traded beloved starting pitcher Kevin Gausman to the Chicago Cubs (details here).
The Dominican righty is having a solid season, tossing a career-best 3.29 ERA through 22 starts, giving up 97 hits and an MLB-leading 57 walks with 127 strikeouts through 123 innings.
Since making his big league debut in 2023 as a relief pitcher for the Angels, Soriano turned starter and has since been solid in the role change.
He finished 2024 with a 3.42 ERA in 20 starts (22 games) through 113 innings before setting a career-high in strikeouts the next season with 152 through 169 innings, but also putting up a career-worst 4.26 ERA.
Angels' return
Nimmala, 20, is the Blue Jays' No. 2 prospect and No. 43 in the MLB Top 100. He's slashing .265/.364/.453 with eight home runs, 34 RBI, and six stolen bases through 62 minor league games this year, ranging from rookie ball to Double-A, where he's at now.
Micheletti, 24, is slashing .251/.347/.454 with 14 home runs and 45 RBI through 93 games in Double-A this season. His 14 home runs this season already tie his career high from last season in 13 fewer games.
Rivero, 19, out of Colombia, is currently tossing a 2.36 ERA through 12 games (nine starts) this season in rookie ball, racking up 52 strikeouts in 42 innings.
