Seattle got off to a hot start en route to their 2-0 series lead
It began with a Julio Rodriguez three-run home run in the top of the first inning off pitcher Trey Yesavage.
Rodriguez became the second Mariners player in franchise history to hit a three-run home run in the ACLS - the first being Jay Buhner during Game 3 in 1995.
Yesavage would go on to give up a single to Josh Naylor before striking out Jorge Polanco, Eugenio Suarez, and Dominic Canzone to get out of the inning
Then, the Blue Jays responded with three runs of their own.
George Springer, who hit a home run in Game 1, would hit a double before Nathan Lukes brings him in on an RBI single with a passed-ball error from Naylor at first base.
Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk would bring Lukes home with an RBI single of his own to cut the lead to 3-2 before the inning ended.
After a 1-2-3 top half of the second inning, Toronto took advantage in the bottom half.
Lukes would record his second RBI with a single that brought in Clement from third, who made his way over to the hot corner after a pair of groundouts.
But from there on, it was Seattle.
The Mariners' own Mr. Clutch this postseason in Polanco would crank a two-run home run to give Seattle a 5-3 lead.
Six of Polanco's seven hits at that point had brought in runs. He won Game 5 of the ALDS with a walk-off. He brought in the go-ahead run in Game 1 of the ACLS. Now, he hit the go-ahead home run in Game 2 in the fifth inning.
J.P. Crawford put up a sac-fly in the sixth inning before Naylor put things way out of reach in the seventh.
Naylor hit his first home run of the postseason to deep right field to put the M's up 9-3, making history along the way, before Crawford would hit his second sac-fly of the game to extend the lead 10-3.
After starting pitcher Logan Gilbert was taken out after 3.0 innings of work, the Seattle bullpen only allowed one hit for the remaining six innings.
As for Toronto, five of their seven pitchers gave up at least one run.
The Mariners were 3-for-9 with runners in scoring position, Toronto went 3-for-10.
The series now heads back to Seattle for Game 3 (Wednesday, October 15th) and Game 4 (Thursday, October 16th).
