Jakob Michelsen will take over as Danish women's national team coach after the European championships, say TV2 and Tipsbladet.

The news comes a day after Jakob Michelsen announced that he is leaving his job as coach for HamKam in the Norwegian Eliteserien.

"It has been an enormously difficult decision for my family and me, but I have been given an opportunity that we could not refuse. The family and I cry with one eye and smile with the other," said Jakob Michelsen on Monday to HamKam's website.

The 44-year-old Jakob Michelsen has previously been in charge of, OB and SonderjyskE among other clubs, just as he also has experience as a women's coach, as he was in charge of Skovbakken's women's team from 2007 to 2009.

HamKam fully understands that Jakob Michaelsen has chosen to seek new pastures:

"Jakob has delivered strong results as our head coach, and it is only natural that others also recognize him and the results he has achieved," says the club's board chairman Tom Haakonsen, who chose to accept the Danish head coach's wish to stop due to new challenges.

According to HamKam, Jacob Michaelsen will start in the new job on 1 August.
