Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Malachi Toney scored a touchdown with under two minutes in the game to defeat the Texas A&M Aggies 10-3 on Saturday in the College Football Playoffs.

Toney finished the game with five receptions for 22 yards and one touchdown. His score capped off a big drive that was led by running back Mark Fletcher Jr.

Texas A&M would drive all the way down the field with the remaining time, but failed to find the endzone after Quarterback Marcel Reed threw an interception in the endzone to Bryce Fitzgerald, who picked Reed off twice during the game.

They will advance to the next round to take on the No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes. Click here for the full bracket.

Full game recap + highlights

First half

It was all defence and missed opportunities in the first half as both teams failed to even put up a single point. During the first quarter, both teams exchanged punts before Miami forced a fumble on Texas A&M's second possession of the game.

But A&M would force Miami to punt yet again to end the quarter, leaving the score at a pair of goose eggs. After just two possessions each in the first quarter, each team had four in the second - ending in nothing but failed scoring chances.

Miami finished the second quarter with two punts and two missed field goals (47 yards and 40 yards). Texas A&M also had two punts in the second with two missed field goals, one of them being a block by Miami.

In total, both teams combined went 0-for-4 in field goals in the first half, with zero touchdowns and seven punts.

They had a big chance after Malachi Toney almost ran one back on a punt, but was tripped up.

The tackle from defender Marcus Ratcliffe saved the Aggies in what might be considered the play of the game.

But it ended in a wide-right field goal miss from Carter Davis, his second miss of the day due to brutal winds that carried the ball off the screen.

Texas A&M finished the first half with 179 total yards (113 passing), eight first downs, two sacks, two penalties, and one turnover.

Miami entered the locker room with just 69 total yards (31 passing), four first downs, one penalty, one sack, and went 1-for-7 on third down.

Second half

Miami got the ball first in the second half, going 72 yards on nine plays all the way down to the Aggies' two yard line.

Davis would make his first field of the game (third attempt) to put Miami on the board first with 10:34 left in the third.

Miami would quickly get the ball back on the following possession after defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald picked off Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed to give his Hurricanes great field goal possession.

It would make five interceptions for Fitzgerald on the season - the most by any freshman defensive back in all of college football - before adding another at the end of the game to make it six.

Reed would finish the game with 237 passing yards and two interceptions on 25-of-39 passing.

But it was all for naught as Davis continued to have the worst game of his career after he missed another field goal opportunity, which would've put Miami up 6-0, this time from 35 yards that doinked off the left goal post.

Davis became the first kicker to ever miss three field goals in a College Football Game.

With 8:03 left in the game, Aggies kicker Randy Bond would drill one right down the middle from 35 yards out to tie the all-time school record with his 71st made field goal, tying it up 3-3.

The field goal capped off a 16-play, 67-yard drive that took up 7:30 of time - the longest drive of the entire game in both plays and time of possession.

In the following Miami drive, the Aggies forced just the second lost fumble for the Hurricanes all season long to get the ball back on the A&M 45-yard line.

Aggies safety Dalton Brooks forced the fumble as he finished the game with a team-leading seven tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss on top of the forced fumble.

After forcing the Aggies to punt, despite the turnover, Miami running back Mark Fletcher Jr. broke a 56-yard run on the first play of the Miami drive that put his Hurricanes into A&M territory.

That entire drive, only Fletcher would see the ball until Toney's touchdown, putting up five carries for 75 yards as Miami went up 10-3.

Fletcher finished the game with 172 yards on 17 carries.
