NFL Week 6 knee-jerk reaction: Are we in an alternate timeline?

With Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season done and over with, and this time around, we have but a single knee-jerk reaction heading into Week 7!

As a reminder to all, knee-jerk reactions are strictly how I felt following a game/s. These are not meant to be taken as predictions, hot takes, or any variations of the sort.

Now, let's go over the one, overarching knee-jerk reaction following Week 6!

Nothing makes sense this year

Hmm...Let's take a look.

Daniel Jones and Drake Maye are MVP candidates and are leading the two best teams in the AFC, reminiscent of how Peyton Manning (Colts) and Tom Brady (Patriots) used to be.

The Atlanta Falcons have the No. 1 defence - they haven't produced a single top-five defence in the previous 20 years.

Baker Mayfield has led the Bucs to the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Oh, this rabbit hole keeps going.

The Baltimore Ravens would have the No. 2 overall pick in the draft if the season ended today. Yet, they still lead the league in scoring (194 points) despite Lamar Jackson being out the past two weeks and the team putting up a combined 13 points.

Kansas City Chiefs are third in the AFC West.

Pittsburgh is 4-1 and leads the AFC North despite having a bottom-five offence and a bottom-ten defence. Aaron Rodgers (41) was a rookie in the NFL when his Steelers teammates Derrick Harmon and Kaleb Johnson were just two years old.

Now he is throwing touchdowns to D.K. Metcalf.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lead the league in forced turnovers (14) after being dead last in the rankings last year with just nine. Oh, by the way, they're 4-1 as well.

George Pickens is third in the league in receiving. Javonte Williams and Rico Dowdle are fourth and fifth in rushing, respectively.

Cowboys have the No. 1 offence, but the No. 32 defence.

The Cleveland Browns have the No. 3 defence and two possible Rookie of the Year candidates in Carson Schwesinger (LB) and Quinshon Judkins (RB). They have never had a rookie win Offensive Player of the Year. And the only time a defensive player won it for them was Chip Banks in 1982.

Joe Flacco got traded from the Browns to the Bengals and is now throwing touchdowns to Ja'Marr Chase, who was eight years old when Flacco was a rookie in the NFL.

The San Francisco 49ers are 3-1 this season with backup Mac Jones at quarterback and have the No. 5 offence, all while being second in the league with players on injured reserve (20+).

Eagles offensive players are still trying to "find their identity" despite just winning the Super Bowl. Their offence ranks 30th, which is below the winless Jets.

Reigning Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley has yet to put up 100 total yards in a single game this season, let alone just rushing yards.

Eddy Pineiro (SF) is arguably the best kicker in football right now, despite being a free agent until Week 2 of the season, alongside Nick Folk (NYJ).

Josh Johnson isn't miraculously on a different team - he's in Washington, where he played in 2018.

And to top it all off, the AFC currently have their worst winning percentage (.353) against the NFC in over 20 years.

Did I miss anything?
