Buffalo Sabres forward Rasmus Dahlin scored his first career hat trick in a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, while Detroit's Patrick Kane ties Mike Modano for the most points ever recorded by a U.S.-born player during Tuesday's action!

Sabres 7-4 Maple Leafs

Dahlin's hat trick also made it 28 on the year for players around the league in the month of January. They need just one more to break the record that was set in December 1985.

Buffalo's Tage Thompson also scored a goal in his 500th career game as the Sabres improved to 30-17-5, extending their winning streak to four games.

Toronto dropped to 24-20-9 and have now lost three straight.

Kings 3-1 Red Wings

Even in the loss, Kane's assist to teammate Alex DeBrincat tied him with legendary Mike Modano for most points ever (1,374) by a U.S.-born player and 27th all-time.

Corey Perry (11), Andrei Kuzmenko (11), and Samuel Helenius (2) all scored for the Kings, ending Detroit goaltender John Gibson's eight-game win streak.

The Kings improved to 22-16-3 and extended their win streak to three games. Detroit dropped to 32-17-5.

Bruins 3-2 Predators

Morgan Geekie scored his 30th goal of the season to put the Bruins up 2-0 at the start of the second period.

Nashville would rally back, tying it up 2-2 with a goal from Roman Josi (9) with under 35 seconds left in the second and another from Nick Blankenburg (6) with under seven minutes left in the third.

But Boston's David Pastrnak played hero in overtime after scoring his 22nd of the season as the Bruins have now won nine of their last 11 games.

They improved to 31-20-3, while the Preds fell to 24-23-5.

Canadiens 3-2 Golden Knights

Cole Caufield scored his 30th goal of the season and extended his scoring streak to six games to give the Habs a 2-1 lead heading into the third frame.

But Vegas' Pavel Dorofeyev scored a tip-in for his 24th goal of the season to send it to OT, where Montreal's Jake Evans (6) would nail home the game-winner.

The Habs improved to 29-17-7. Vegas fell to 25-14-3.

Mammoth 4-3 Panthers

Utah goaltender Vitek Vanecek ended his 10-game losing streak after his teammates put up just enough on the scoreboard to help lift his skid.

Tied 2-2 heading into the third, Utah's Mikhail Sergachev (8) and Barrett Hayton (7) doubled their lead, holding off the Panthers for just one last-second goal from Carter Verhaeghe (16).

Utah improved to 28-21-4 as they're in sole possession of the top Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Florida dropped to 28-21-3.

Jets 4-3 Devils

After taking a commanding 4-1 lead, the Jets held off a rallying Devils team that scored twice in the third.

Cole Koepke (5) now has a goal in back-to-back games for the Jets as Mark Scheifele found the net for the 26th time this season.

Winnipeg improved to 21-24-7, while the Devils dropped to 27-24-2.

Stars 4-3 Blues

After gaining an early 3-0 lead, the Stars would give up three straight goals to the Blues in the third period as St. Louis rallied back.

But with 1:07 left to go, Dallas' Thomas Harley scored his third goal of the season to put the Stars on top in the end as they improved to 30-14-9.

Despite two goals from Brayden Schenn (12) and Robby Fabbri's first of the season, it wasn't enough as the Blues fell to 19-25-9.

Wild 4-3 Blackhawks

Following a 3-0 deficit, the Wild completed the insane comeback after scoring three straight goals to send it into overtime.

Yakov Trenin (4), Joel Eriksson Ek (13), and Jared Spurgeon (5) rallied Minnesota back as none other than Kirill Kaprizov scored the game-winner during a shootout.

The Wild improved to 30-14-10, while the Blackhawks fell to 21-23-8.
