Baltimore Orioles top prospect Samuel Basallo (21) hit his first career home run on Saturday against the San Francisco Giants.

Basallo's first career homer came off pitcher Tristan Beck during the top of the fourth inning to give the Orioles a 5-1 lead.

Baltimore recently signed Basallo to an eight-year, $67 million contract extension (read details here).

The promising rookie made his debut on August 17th during the team's series against the Astros in Houston, one in which Basallo was originally robbed of his first home run.

He's recorded at least one hit in seven of his 11 games this season. However, his home run on Saturday against the Giants was his first RBI in seven games.

The No. 8 overall prospect in all of baseball (and No. 1 among catchers) will be hitting the long ball for a long time in Baltimore going forward.

Baltimore is 4-6 since Basallo has been called up, but they are about to make it 5-6 on Saturday if they pull out a win against San Fran.
