Brisbane Roar 0-2 Auckland FC
Michael Valkanis (Brisbane):
"A lot of it has got to do with fatigue. Let's not hide playing four games in ten days. That's not an excuse - it's normal that the players would be very tired. We've had to rotate and shift around a lot. When you look at the first seven or eight games when we were virtually on top, we were unchanged and very consistent. Now you see a team that is fatigued and having to make changes. They're giving everything they have and that's what I've looked at. I never played four games in ten days. Ajax (when Valkanis was an assistant) it was three games in ten days. That's going to take a toll. Now we can reset."
Steve Corica (Auckland FC):
"I'm really pleased to see them both (Brook and Cosgrove) with five goals each. They worked really hard in the humidity that we're not used to. There were a couple of areas in the first half that we could have done better with the ball, but I'm pleased with the clean sheet. I thought we could have won that by three or four. We're still unbeaten away from home and I'm very happy with the three points. I'm obviously happy with where we are at the moment."
Melbourne Victory 0-1 Western Sydney Wanderers
Arthur Diles (Melbourne Victory):
"The performance wasn't good enough. Tonight we weren't at our best. We probably didn't deserve to lose it in the end, but we didn't deserve to win it either. I still would have liked to get something out of the game, but we didn't. We felt a bit slow and weren't playing at the tempo we normally do. It was a performance that we'll review and pick out a lot of things that we'll need to improve. The pitch was dry out there, but they're the conditions and everyone has to deal with it. We can't control the conditions but we can control our intent and our decision making."
Alen Stajcic (Western Sydney Wanderers):
"I think it was a battle for us tonight. It was our 12th game of the season and we probably played better in the other 11, if I'm to speak strictly about performance on the ball. It was one we had to grind out and sometimes you have to do that. The pitch was a bit sticky which made it hard for both teams to be fluent. We didn't have a lot of rhythm and fluency in the first half. We just didn't execute and they (Victory) didn't really create a lot of clear cut chances either. It was one of those games where I think it was difficult for both teams to create good chances."
Macarthur 0-3 Sydney FC
Mile Sterjovski (Macarthur FC):
"Definitely a disappointing performance. We didn't deserve any points tonight. It felt like we were second to everything. It was hard to take. For the first few minutes we were okay. I felt the challenge on Caceres should have been a red. I don't know how they got that wrong. Regardless of that we just didn't turn up. We didn't get to second balls and even in possession we weren't our normal selves. Every team goes through that and hopefully it's a wake-up call because we've got a big run of games. I don't understand why they didn't delay the kickoff. We knew that the conditions were going to be ten days ago."
Ufuk Talay (Sydney FC):
"It was very hot in the first half. We had to adapt to the way we set up with the players we had available. I think the boys executed it very well at times. We could have done a lot better but that's me always expecting more. We were quite dominant from start to finish. There has been a lot of criticism for visa players to come in and score 20 goals per season but the first season is always about adapting but I think the plays they've brought into the game have been good and they capped it off with some goals tonight."
Perth Glory 3-0 Central Coast Mariners
Adam Griffiths (Perth Glory):
"The first half was definitely enjoyable. When I first came in I knew there was some real energy from these fans and the team's objective is to bring joy to them. Today was a good performance but it's not enough. In the second half we came out a little flat. Yes we got the third (goal) but I thought we could have got a fourth and a fifth and it would have been fair if we did. I'm really excited about the players that are coming back because we haven't had that for a while. Clean sheets make me happy because I know we're not losing the game, so we're going to continue pushing to work on that area of our game."
Warren Moon (Central Coast Mariners):
"Fair result. We just weren't at the races today. I was disappointed with our first half in particular. The problems still exist for us. We got into great areas but with no shots on target because we don't make the right choice or put it into an area where we can really hurt the opposition. Last week was good but it was a bit of a reality check for some of our younger players in particular tonight. (Perth) showed their quality tonight. We are off the back of a run where we're trying to manage a thin squad through this whole period and it showed where we are at in terms of a lack of depth. We just need help and we've got some players that we know are coming in to provide some quality across the board."
Wellington Phoenix 2-2 Adelaide United
Giancarlo Italiano (Wellington Phoenix):
"I hate cliches but that was definitely a game of two halves. I think we were more worried about the weather and what it would do to our game. The intent in the first ten to 15 was not there. Credit to (Adelaide) for their second goal. It was a top goal. I was really happy with the subs and the mindset going into the second. In the end, with the chances we created we probably should have capitalised and we could have won the game. It was a weird sort of game and hard for any team to get a stranglehold."
Airton Andrioli (Adelaide United):
"Very disappointed, especially after playing such a controlled first half. Everything we put in place in the first half was working really well. We could have shown a lot more control in the second half. (The wind) is not an issue because it affects both teams. I think the issue was mainly us handling the situation. We just needed to be a little better when we had the ball like we were in the first half. We were losing the ball and giving them the momentum that they needed. We lacked some players on the bench in certain positions so we were playing a few players out of position, but to me that's not an excuse."
Melbourne City 0-1 Newcastle Jets
Aurelio Vidmar (Melbourne City):
"We probably deserved what we got in the end. We didn't start very well. We focused all week about being careful with the ball and within the first minute we turned the ball over for no reason and they got a shot on goal. That already set the scene and it didn't get too much better in the first 15-20 minutes. We were so static and didn't take any strong individual responsibility. Generally we start strong and set the tone, but we didn't do that today. We have young guys and you expect a bit of ups and downs with them, so they've just got to keep trying to step up. There's nowhere to hide."
Mark Milligan (Newcastle Jets):
