Nigeria face Sudan knowing that anything less than a win could threaten their hopes of reaching the competition’s quarter-finals.

The Super Eagles stumbled in their opening match of the biennial African showpiece, falling 1-0 to defending champions Senegal.

With the fiercely contested clash heading for a goalless draw at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar City, Christian Gomis’ 75th-minute strike separated both teams.

Eric Chelle’s men will be aiming for their first victory of the competition when they take on the Falcons of Jediane, led by Ghanaian tactician James Kwesi Appiah.

For the CECAFA (East & Central Africa) side, the aim will be to secure their first win of the competition for locally based professionals, having settled for a 1-1 draw against Congo in their opening fixture.

When is the game?

The match between Sudan and Nigeria is scheduled for 18:00 (West African Time) on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

This stadium boasts a seating capacity of approximately 15,000, making it one of the largest stadiums in Zanzibar.

The name “Amaan” means “peace” in Swahili, symbolising unity and harmony; a perfect reflection of a venue that unites people from across the region.

The venue plays a vital role in regional football, regularly hosting matches for local clubs as well as international tournaments like the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Cup.

Also, it has served as a venue for qualification matches in continental competitions, cementing its importance in East African football.

In recent years, the stadium has undergone significant renovations to upgrade its facilities and meet international standards. These improvements, which include enhancements to the pitch, seating, and lighting, enable the venue to accommodate larger crowds while providing better amenities for both players and fans.
