Eredivisie giants Ajax have confirmed the signing of Maximilian Ibrahimovic, son of former Ajax striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, on loan from AC Milan with the option to buy.

Maximilian Ibrahimovic, son of former Ajax and Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has joined Ajax on loan for the rest of the season. The Amsterdam club have an option to buy the Swede, which is reportedly set at €3.5 million.

Ibrahimovic will wear number 27 on his Ajax kit, the first kit number his father was given at Malmo in 1999.

"We are very pleased with Maximilian's arrival," Marijn Beuker, Ajax director of football, said in a club statement.

"He is a talented striker with a good sense of positioning in and around the penalty area, and he is very goal-oriented in his finishing. He is skilled at dribbling and, above all, has a great winning mentality and training character."

Beuker confirmed that Ibrahimovic will play most of his games for Jong Ajax, the club's under-21 team that's active in the Dutch second tier. The Swedish winger will also spend time with the senior squad, however.

"Maximilian is a player with a lot of potential, and we hope that he will eventually be able to join the senior squad's attack on a permanent basis."

Son of an Ajax icon

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Maximilian's father, played 115 games for Ajax between 2001 and 2004, scoring 48 goals before earning a move to Italian giants Juventus. It is said that Zlatan, who's currently a senior advisor to AC Milan, played a big part in the negotiations for Maximilian's move to Ajax.

The 19-year-old Ibrahimovic joined the Rossoneri in 2022 from Swedish outfit Hammarby, the club his father owns 23.5% of.

The Swedish left forward has since played for the under-17, under-18, under-19, and Futuro teams. For Futuro, the club's under-21 team that competes in Serie D, Ibrahimovic scored five goals and assisted five in 18 appearances.

Ibrahimovic debuted in Milan's matchday squad for the semifinal of the Supercoppa Italiana on December 18th, 2025, but remained an unused substitute. He's under contract in Milan until 2027.
