Kenneth Taylor (22) admitted he is living his dream after deciding the famous Klassieker between Ajax and Feyenoord with a 94th-minute winner.

Second-placed Ajax were on the verge of dropping points against bitter rivals Feyenoord when Taylor converted on an Anton Gaaei cross and won his side the ever important Klassieker.

A win was crucial in Ajax's title chase as league leaders PSV dropped points Saturday evening against NEC Nijmegen, meaning Ajax could narrow the gap to two points with a game in hand.

Taylor, an academy product of the club he's represented since the ago of 8, said he has "always dreamt" about this moment.

"I always wanted to decide a Klassieker with a goal. So how nice is it that this happened in injury time of this game?"

The midfielder moved to the left wing after manager Francesco Farioli took Steven Berghuis off and with no other wingers in the squad. Taylor started his run to the box as soon as Gaaei got the ball.

"Because I know he has a great kick," he said. "I know he can give perfectly accurate balls like that. And he did. My goal is 90 per cent to Anton's credit. All I had to do was shoot at goal."

Taylor got subbed off just minutes after his winning goal and he was happy Farioli hadn't done so earlier. "I'm also glad the coach hadn't substituted me yet. Because I did indicate that I was done."

His goal put Ajax back and perhaps in front of the title race with the Amsterdam side just two points behind PSV and with a game in hand, but Kenneth Taylor and his team wouldn't say a word about a potential title.

"That might not suit Ajax," Taylor acknowledged. "But that also reflects where we are coming from. At the beginning of the season, we stated that the season would be more than successful if we qualify for the Champions League.

"And we don't always play well if I am to believe your reports. That's true. But we are doing everything we can to win.

Ajax experienced a historically bad 2023/24 campaign with an early cup exit, chaos in and around the club, and even a temporary stay in the last place of the Dutch Eredivisie.

"So much went wrong last year so much. Now it's going in our favour more often. If you saw Gaaei play just now. Last season he was substituted already in the first half of our home game with Feyenoord. Now he gives the cross for my winning goal. It could well be that he had feelings of revenge."
