Reigning Eredivisie champions PSV beat promoted outfit FC Volendam 3-0 on Sunday to give a marvellous week a perfect ending.

Forwards Ricardo Pepi and former Bayern wonderkid Paul Wanner were handed starts, with the latter filling in for the injured Ivan Perisic, and with them, PSV dominated the chance-laden opening phase. Esmir Bajraktarevic, Ismael Saibari and Pepi all came close to opening the scoring before Joey Veerman scored his sixth goal of the Eredivisie season.

Pepi added a second to PSV's tally in the 23rd minute, acrobatically working the ball past Kayne van Oevelen to practically put the game to bed well before half-time.

Volendam talisman Henk Veerman nearly put his side back in contention when the tall striker earned a chance right before the break, but couldn't finish his lone opportunity of the opening half, which a rampant PSV dominated.

The hosts put the foot back on the throttle as soon as the game was resumed for the final half, as Wanner and Saibari took Van Oevelen under fire early. Guus Til, who's acted as PSV's de facto striker while Pepi was getting back to full match fitness, eventually scored PSV's third and his tenth of the season with an easy finish in the far corner.

American-Bosnian Bajraktarevic actively looked to add onto his season tally, but failed in doing so, keeping the score at 3-0 in favour of the reigning champions.

The win, PSV's ninth in their last ten games across all competitions, perfectly capped off a great week for the Eindhoven outfit, who beat Premier League champions Liverpool 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
