Liga Portugal outfit Braga clinched their spot in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 after a bore draw saw Dutch Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles fly out of the competition.

Hosts Go Ahead Eagles needed a miracle to qualify for the UEFA Europa League knockouts, requiring a win over Braga and five results elsewhere to fall in their favour. The Deventer outfit had to take up the fight with Braga without Mats Deijl - the former captain left the Eagles for Feyenoord last weekend.

Braga, meanwhile, had little to lose with a spot among the top 8 clearly within reach of the Portuguese outfit.

A tame first half only saw its first attempt come after 22 minutes, when Braga midfielder Gorby rolled a shot from distance into the hands of Jari De Busser.

The Portuguese visitors also ended the half with the biggest chance when Fran Navarro's header narrowly missed De Busser's goal in the first minute of added time.

Both teams' offensive woes dominated the second half, which mostly saw Braga create minor chances in the absence of any offensive might from the Eagles.

As the fireworks inside and outside the Adelaarshorst stadium highlighted a bore draw, Braga secured their spot in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 with a sixth-place finish, ending the League Phase on 17 points after staying unbeaten in their last four European games.

Meanwhile, Go Ahead Eagles concluded their first European voyage since the 1960s with a point and a 28th-place finish.
