Paris FC made it back-to-back wins over Lorient with a 2-0 victory at Stade Jean-Bouin that lifted them into the top half of the Ligue 1 table.

This meeting of two of the promoted teams provided both sides with an opportunity to make their positions more comfortable as the winter months approach.  With the top-flight newbies having two of the leakiest defences in Ligue 1 so far this season, the game promised to be an entertaining affair, and it was the hosts who were on top throughout the first half.

Paris thought they had taken the lead with only three minutes on the clock when Jean-Philippe Krasso curled home from just inside the area, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Having controlled possession, the Parisians struck twice in the space of five minutes to take firm control.

First, a loose ball fell to Krasso just outside the area, and his quick thinking saw him play a through ball for Ilan Kebbal, who slotted past Yvon Mvogo.

Then, on the half-hour, Moses Simon created space for a cross from the byline, and he picked out Krasso who directed the ball in at the near post to give the hosts a 2-0 half-time lead.

This spelt bad news for Lorient, as Paris were unbeaten in each of the Ivorian’s previous six goalscoring appearances.

Lorient boss Olivier Pantaloni will have demanded a response from his side in the second half, but it didn’t appear forthcoming as the home side continued to see the majority of the ball.

The visitors could take belief from the fact that Paris had only kept two clean sheets in their previous 11 games, and were yet to keep one this season, but Les Merlus weren’t doing enough to threaten a comeback.

In a contest which didn’t see a great deal of attacking quality, Lorient only managed a solitary shot on target all night as their comeback quest never got going.

This victory - a third in five games - sees Paris climb up three places to eighth, while Les Merlus remain 13th and just two points above the relegation zone.
