West Ham United manager Graham Potter has spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's game against Everton.

Following Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace, the Hammers head coach heard chants of “you're getting sacked in the morning” from his own fans who are desperate to see him leave.

Potter admits difficulties at West Ham

Potter was first asked on the difficulty of the job and admitted that “football is tough” ahead of what could be his last game in charge.

"Every Premier League job is a hard job and that is the facts.

"If you think how many coaches there are in the world and you find yourself as one of the 20 coaches in the Premier League, it's hard, by definition. Every coach is good and there are resources everywhere.

"Every job is hard and in terms of this one you don't know how things are before you go in but from the outside I thought this would be a challenge, it is an incredible challenge but an exciting challenge.

"Anything that is worth having in life you have to accept there will be struggle. Football is tough."

Potter determined to turn the side around

He did show a bit of optimism, however, as he revealed that he is determined to turn the club around after a tough start to the campaign.

"I think you have to accept that at the highest level that the margins are small.

"You can't wait for those to come round for you and you just have to keep working. We have to keep moving forward and try and change it and that's the job, that's life and we are looking forward to changing that dynamic."

Potter knows he is a meme

Viral images have swept social media in the last few days as supporters swap the 50-year-old's face onto the bodies of well-known figures from all walks of life. Potter was asked about becoming a meme on social media and says he has seen a few examples.

"Yes, I am aware of it. It made my 15-year-old son laugh a lot so you have to accept what comes with it (the job)

"At times (that is) ridicule but that is just the environment we are in and it is what it is."

He was also asked if he has a favourite one: "No not really, I haven't given it too much thought and you can imagine I've got a few more important things than that to be honest and as I said it is what it is and you have to deal with those things."
