Thomas Frank, who has come under some pressure from fans, is so far being promised the full backing of the board during this transfer window - and is being given a say in how Tottenham approach their recruitment strategy.
Spurs have identified a wide attacker and a left-sided defender as key areas for improvement. The club have already sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace and are now making the signing of an attacking player a top priority in the coming days as they look to replace him within the squad.
Checks have begun on RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, while Tottenham are also assessing Manchester City pair Savinho and Oscar Bobb, as well as Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche.
Additional attacking options are being monitored, with situations around Omar Marmoush and Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis among those being checked out.
There have also been reports emerging from Brazil suggesting Spurs have made a move for Santos defender Souza. While that interest has yet to be confirmed, it would align with the club’s desire to bring in a new option on the left side of their defence.
Tottenham do, however, have other targets in that position and have been whittling down their shortlist across Europe.
The belief within the club is that a commanding and confident approach to this window is required if they are to land significant players capable of lifting the squad’s level. Ideally, Spurs would also like to add a central midfielder should the right profile become available, while they are interested in signing a goalkeeper to compete with Guglielmo Vicario.
