FC Copenhagen coach Jacob Neestrup regrets that he on Sunday delivered his message about FC Midtjylland stealing yards at every throw-in in such a poor way that he followingly has been the object of much criticism from football experts and fans across Denmark.

Neestrup on Sunday heavily criticized FC Midtjylland for stealing yards every time they had to take a throw-in.

"They only had chances to score in the second half from set pieces, where – and now I'm saying something controversial – I think that they are given some opportunities that shouldn't be allowed. When they have throw-ins 40 metres from goal, they convert them into being 28 to 30 meters from goal so that they can throw the ball into the box. That is why it is so important that the referees keep an eye on where the ball goes out for a throw-in", said Neestrup to Viaplay after the game.

But Neestrup, who followingly was blatantly critisized by FC Midtjyllanch coach Thomas Thomasberg for lying after the match, admitted Thursday that he had chosen the wrong words as he tried to explain his bizarre reaction to the 1-0 win against Thomasberg's side.

"I am deeply annoyed with myself that I have a point which is important and decisive in the match, and which may decide medals, where I - in an attempt to get my point across - exaggerated to make it clearer, and that I can be so inexperienced after 2,5 years as head coach," said Neestrup, before he added:

"When I have a point I want to make, I have to be sharper when I deliver it. Until now there has been more focus on that than on my point, which I still think is 100 percent valid and fair to make.'

"I am deeply annoyed with myself that I did the worst post match interview in 2,5 years as coach of FC Copenhagen. Because I wasn't not sharp enough, the focus turned to something different. On the other hand, I am happy that there was focus on the issue after all. It was important that the message was delivered after a game we won and not after a match we lost," said Neestrup and concluded:

"I stand by my point 100 percent, but I delivered the message in a very bad way. Sometimes I go into the lion's den and then I also have to accept that there is a price to be paid", said Neestrup.

Neestrup and FC Copenhagen will be in action again on 2 March whe they face AaB in Aalborg.
