Who will host next year's Danish Cup final? This remains a huge question after the Danish League Association has introduced a controversial rule change where clubs are not permitted to play the cup final at their own home stadium.
FC Midtjylland's CEO Claus Steinlein addresses the issue in the Viaplay program "Superliga Top Executives", where it does not sound likely that MCH Arena will be part of the bidding process.
"I think our stadium is too small, and the last time we hosted the cup final, it was something we were forced to do," says Steinlein.
"No one else wanted to host it. We got criticized for hosting the event, but that was because the two big clubs in Copenhagen couldn't quite sort things out with the police and all the rest."
In 2025, the Danish cup final between FC Copenhagen and Silkeborg was moved from Brondby Stadium to MCH Arena because the police advised against letting FC Copenhagen play in the Brondby area.
The organizer of the cup final can naturally look forward to a financial gain, but the reward of playing the final at your own stadium no longer exists.
