Frederik Emmery allowed AGF to extend their lead at the top of the Danish Superliga table when a superb individual action from the 18-year old talent shortly before the end gave the home side a deserved 1-0 win against FC Nordsjaelland.

FC Nordsjaelland's ten men seemed for a long time to withstand the onslaught from the Superliga's top team AGF, but just before the end, 18-year-old Frederik Emmery turned match-winner to give the hosts a 1-0 victory.

A red card for FCN at the start of the second half gave the visitors difficult conditions, and in the end, it proved fatal for FC Nordsjaelland.

After several wasted AGF chances, the young substitute Emmery surged past two FCN players in the 89th minute before slotting the ball into the net and giving the home side another three points.

AGF is thus back on the winning track, after the team played 3-3 in Brondby in the last round. The draw had put an end to a winning streak of eight successive league matches.

Thanks to the win, AGF are now five points ahead of FC Midtjylland, who play on Sunday against FC Fredericia.

During the first half, chances were few and afar. The home side enjoyed the majority of possession, but the visitors had the biggest chance of the half when Nicklas Rojkjaer broke through the AGF-defense for the visitors, but keeper Jesper Hansen produced a fine save to keep the game scoreless.

After the break, drama soon ensued when FCN's captain, Mark Brink, after a VAR check was sent off for a rough sliding challenge on Markus Solbakken.

This changed the scenario of the match, and the visitors began defending with nine players deep inside their own half as the hosts got closer and closer and were rewarded in the end.
