Brazilian Serie A-outfit Sport Club Internacional has signed José Carlos Ferreira Júnior, also known as Juninho, from FC Midtjylland. The 30-year old centre-back will leave the Danish champions with immediate effect.

According to Tipsbladet, Sport Club Internacional will pay 11.2 million Danish kroner (approx. 1,5 million EUROs) for the 30-year-old defender, but there are a number of bonuses included, so the deal could reach 18.5 million Danish kroner (approx. 2,4 million EUROs) if the clauses are fulfilled.

"Juninho has acted loyally and extremely professionally throughout his time as an FCM player, where he has been an important part of the squad. Whether he played or sat on the bench, you could always count on a 100 percent effort."

"We wish him all the best in the future, and we are sure that his qualities and experience from Danish football will benefit him at home in Brazil", says Peter Sand, Football Director at FC Midtjylland.

Juninho has played for FC Midtjylland since 2021 where he has taken part in winning the Danish championship as well as the Danish cup tournament. He has scored five goals for the club.

Juninho is currently still in Denmark but is expected to travel to Brazil next week.
