12-time international Wieffer has enjoyed relatively little playing time in Brighton since his summer transfer from Feyenoord, partially thanks to a thigh injury which kept him sidelined for nearly two months.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Youri Baas debuts in the Dutch senior squad after initially being called up to the U21 squad. Baas, who celebrates his birthday on Monday, made a surprise entry into Francesco Farioli's starting squad at the start of the current campaign and has since cemented himself as a pillar of a resurgent Ajax side.
The call-ups for Wieffer and Baas were necessary for Koeman as Inter right-back Denzel Dumfries had to withdraw due to a muscle injury sustained during Sunday's game against Atalanta.
In addition to Dumfries, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been dealing with issues after missing Sunday's LaLiga match against Atletico Madrid due to illness. According to the Dutch KNVB, the 55-time international will come to Zeist but will not appear during practice.
The Netherlands play Spain in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Nations League. Rotterdam will host the first leg this Thursday before the second leg will be played in Valencia this Sunday.
