Here is our Team of the Week, using our Flashscore ratings:

Goalkeeper

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (Torino) - 8.3

Torino saw off AC Milan this weekend in a 2-1 success, with much of their triumph being attributed to their goalkeeper Milinkovic-Savic.

The Serbian stopper made seven out of eight saves on Saturday evening, as AC Milan racked up an xG of 2.45 only to be denied at the final hurdle.

AC Milan haven’t won at Torino since 2021 and thanks to Milinkovic-Savic, that run will continue until next season.

Defence

Givairo Read (Feyenoord) - 9.1

Read recovered from a red card - albeit off the pitch - in his side’s historic Champions League win against AC Milan in midweek to be the star of the show as the third-placed side in the Eredivisie came from behind to defeat Almere City 2-1 at De Kuip.

The teenager was the main architect, assisting both goals with the second coming in stoppage time. His cross from deep found the boot of David Hancko, whose delicious volley sealed the victory.

Getting forward throughout the game, Read created a game-high five chances with a pass accuracy of 89.1% - showing that his potential may have a very high ceiling.

Jubal Junior (Auxerre) - 9.4

Auxerre stunned high-flying Marseille on the weekend with a 3-0 upset to earn their first win since November in all competitions.

At the heart of it was Jubal. The Brazilian central defender scored twice, once from the spot and the other in second-half stoppage time.

Alongside that, he was a colossus at the back, winning three of his four tackles and making 11 clearances.

Berat Djimsiti (Atalanta) - 9.2

Atalanta’s experienced centre-back was one of the standout players in their 5-0 victory against Empoli - getting back to winning ways after being dumped out of the Champions League by Club Brugge in midweek.

The Albanian helped his side keep a clean sheet, whilst also providing a flick-on for Mateo Retegui to continue his fine form in front of goal.

It was his third goal involvement in his last three matches played in Serie A (assist vs Empoli and Hellas Verona and goal vs Torino), after having not been involved in any goal in his previous 21 appearances in the current tournament.

Midfield

Jayden Nelson (Vancouver Whitecaps) - 10.0

Our first perfect 10 of the article comes from the opening weekend of MLS as Nelson led Vancouver to a 4-1 demolition of Phil Neville’s 10-men Portland Timbers.

Nelson starred in both halves for the visitors, using his pace in the second half to go ‘coast to coast’, running almost the full length of the pitch to set up the Whitecaps’ third. He then capped off a three-assist game with a goal, again showing good pace as well as great composure to give his side the perfect start to the campaign.

Pascal Gross (Borussia Dortmund) - 9.2

The first of two Borussia Dortmund players to make the team this week, Pascal Gross was the midfield lynchpin that saw his side stuff Union Berlin 6-0.

Gross, the former Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker, grabbed four assists in the mauling - the pick of the bunch coming at the end of the game when he perfectly picked out Maxi Beier at the back post with a pinpoint cross to seal a masterful display from the German international.

Incredibly, Gross is still waiting for his first Bundesliga goal as a Dortmund player, but with performances like the one on Saturday, he, his teammates, nor his manager will care one bit.

Mikel Jauregizar (Athletic Club) - 9.2

From one mauling to another as Athletic Club thrashed LaLiga’s basement club Valladolid 7-1.

Much like Gross, central midfielder Jauregizar was a fulcrum, netting the opener in the 10th minute, before setting up Oihen Sancet for Athletic Club’s fourth of the first half.

He was a threat throughout the victory, with all three of his shots hitting the target, and with the ball at his feet making 84.8% of his passes before being subbed off in the 64th minute.

Nico Williams (Athletic Club) - 9.5

Athletic Club's second star of this week is a familiar face - that of Nico Williams. His contribution to the victory over Valladolid was massive, with the Spanish winger netting twice before being substituted midway through the second half.

Williams has, surprisingly, just three goals in LaLiga this season, and with that brace, he scored his first goal in the league since September - a return to form in the second half of the campaign would go a long way to keeping up the Basque side's tilt for Champions League qualification.

Forwards

Alexis Claude-Maurice (Augsburg) - 9.6

Augsburg extended their Bundesliga unbeaten run to six games on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach as Claude-Marice netted all three goals.

The French attacking player was lethal in front of goal for the hosts, netting three of his four shots, outscoring his xG by a whopping 2.51.

His nine goals this season in the league is three more than any other Augsburg player, and if he can keep that clinical streak up, his side can keep looking up at Europe rather than down the table.

Ademola Lookman (Atalanta) - 9.2

After being criticised by his manager in midweek for taking a penalty despite being labelled 'the worst taker ever seen', Lookman sent his response on the pitch during his side's win over Empoli.

The attacker netted either side of half-time. Both goals had elements of quality about them - he showed great ball control and skill to round the keeper and slot home his first, before rifling in an effort with great power in the second half.

Food for thought, it seems, for Gian Piero Gasperini.

Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund) - 10.0

Claude-Maurice Alexis would have thought it would be his name in the headlines in Germany this weekend, only for Guirassy to outdo him in the aforementioned 6-0 win over Union Berlin.

Guirassy was in the right place at the right time throughout the game, popping up to score four goals in the confidence booster for Dortmund.

All of the goals were from close range, but he still had to take them, and he made no mistake. The Guinea international now has 13 goals in the league this season, four more than any other player in black and yellow.
