The Asian swing heats up today as the ATP tournaments in Beijing and Tokyo reach their conclusions, with Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic both featuring in title clashes. Meanwhile, on the WTA Tour, the fourth round gets going at the China Open. Follow all the action with our Tennis Tracker.

12:15 CET - Carlos Alcaraz has edged a hard-fought first set against Jiri Lehecka, 7-6(4), in the final of the Japan Open in Tokyo.

12:01 CET - Seventh seed Karolina Muchova has outlasted Naomi Osaka in Beijing to win their fourth-round clash 7-5, 1-6, 7-6(7) and progress to the quarter-finals of the China Open.

Muchova looked to have the match sewn up when she was leading 5-4 in the third set and up 40-0, but Osaka remarkably saved five match points to stay alive. Alas, she couldn't complete the turnaround, although she did save a further three match points in the deciding tiebreak.

The Czech will take on the winner of compatriot Nikola Bartunkova and Sinja Kraus in the final eight; those two face off in the day's last match, which is up next.

10:00 CET - We are just one hour away from our first men's final today - the Tokyo decider between defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and Czech challenger Jiri Lehecka.

As mentioned below, Alcaraz is looking to become the first man to defend the Japanese crown in 32 years, while Lehecka is eyeing just his third ATP Tour-level title, and his first since January 2025 (Brisbane).

The two have met on four occasions, with Alcaraz leading the head-to-head 3-1. Lehecka beat the Spaniard in the Doha quarter-finals in 2025, while two of Alcaraz's wins have come on grass.

08:25 CET - Coco Gauff sparked controversy yesterday at the China Open when she stopped play during a crucial point against home hope Sun Xinran to complain about ‌a flickering advertising board. The American star has since come out to report the 'insane' amount of racist abuse she received on social media after going on to win the match.

07:40 CET - Wimbledon winner and world number six, Linda Noskova, has been dumped out of the China Open by Ekaterina Alexandrova. The Russian won their fourth-round match quite comfortably, prevailing 6-2, 6-2 in just over an hour on court.

Alexandrova fired down six aces and saved four break points on her way to victory, which sees her reach the quarter-finals in Beijing. She will next take on compatriot Mirra Andreeva, who also won earlier today.

07:00 CET - Hello, and welcome to our coverage of the ATP and WTA action in Asia for Tuesday, October 6th. The main events today are the men's finals in Tokyo and Beijing, but we'll also be tracking the women's matches in China.
