Clara Tauson booked her ticket for a second round match against Elina Svitolina at the WTA-1000 tournament in Dubai when she beat Rebecca Sramkova from Slovakia 7-6, 6-0 after having saved four setpoints in the first set.

After being forced to withdraw from the WTA-tournament in Doha due to sickness, Clara Tauson was back to her best form when she sent Rebecca Sramkova crashing out of the WTA-1000 tournament in Dubai with a scoreline 7-6, 6-0.

As the result suggests, Clara Tauson struggled to win the first set, where Rebecca Sramkova had four set points in the decisive tiebreak, but Clara Tauson kept her cool to win the set.

Sramkova visibly deflated from the disappointment of not winning the first set, totally lost her composure in the second set where a string of unforced errors saw Tauson take total control of the match.

Thanks to the win Clara Tauson is thus ready for the second round, where the experienced Ukrainian Elina Svitolina awaits.
