Play continues this Thursday in the world of tennis with early morning action from Tokyo on the WTA tour before action from Vienna and Basel on the ATP tour, with names such as Elenka Rybakina, Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner all in action on a busy day.

18:17 CET - The shocks keep coming this Thursday evening as Daniil Medvedev has lost in Vienna to Corentin Moutet. The Frenchman won 7-6 (3), 6-4 to get revenge for losing the Almaty final last week.

18:00 CET - Ben Shelton has been stunned in Basel! The big-hitting American failed to turn up this afternoon and was punished for it by Jaume Munar, who claimed a shock 6-3, 6-4 win. 

16:10 CET - Elsewhere in Basel, another Canadian, Denis Shapovalov, has booked his spot in the next round with a dominant 7-6 (3), 6-2 win against Valentin Royer.

16:05 CET - Another very impressive display by Felix Auger-Aliassime as the Canadian had an astonishing 28 aces en route to a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (2) victory against Marin Cilic in Basel.

15:00 CET - Katie Volynets and Shuai Zhang have both claimed wins to set up a quarter-final meeting in Guangzhou. 

12:32 CET - Sofia Kenin has survived a real test from 17-year-old Wakana Sonobe, with the American defeating the home favourite 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(2) to move into the Tokyo last eight.

11:24 CET - Caty McNally is the next player to progress in Guangzhou, clinching a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Australian Ajla Tomljanovic.

11:09 CET - Billie Jean King Cup hero Elisabetta Cocciaretto is through to the Guangzhou quarter-finals after a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory over Xiyu Wang.

08:45 CET - The next player to book a quarter-final spot in Tokyo is third seed Ekaterina Alexandrova after she impressively downed Jaqueline Cristian 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour.

There are some overnight results to bring you from Tokyo as Belinda Bencic defeated Varvara Gracheva 6-3, 6-4 before second seed Elena Rybakina won 6-4, 6-3 against Leylah Fernandez to cruise into the quarter-finals.
