12:07 CET - A few more results are in from Australia. Tomas Martin Etcheverry (25) overcame Tristan Schoolkate (23) 7-6(8), 6-3 in Adelaide, while Elise Mertens (29) coasted past Spaniard Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (33) 6-3, 6-1 in Hobart.
10:53 CET - Belinda Bencic (27) has progressed in Adelaide after her seventh-seeded opponent Anna Kalinskaya (26) was forced to retire while trailing 2-6, 0-1. Lucky loser Ashlyn Krueger (20) is also through, having claimed a mightily impressive 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Marta Kostyuk (22).
Meanwhile, in Hobart, third seed Amanda Anisimova (23) made light work of home favourite Daria Saville (30), easing through in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
09:36 CET - Top seed Dayana Yastremska (24) is safely through in Hobart, with the Ukrainian recovering from a slow start to outclass Katie Volynets (23) 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in exactly two hours.
Magda Linette (32), Anna Blinkova (26) and former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin (26) also progressed to the second round.
09:09 CET - Over in Auckland, Czech teenager Jakub Mensik (19) has moved into the next round after a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 win against experienced Spaniard Pablo Carreno-Busta (33).
08:27 CET - On the men's side of the tournament in Adelaide, Brandon Nakashima (23) recovered from a poor second set to outlast Yannick Hanfmann (33) 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
Meanwhile, sixth seed Alexander Bublik (27) was dumped out by Miomir Kecmanovic (25) 4-6, 2-6 and home favourite Rinky Hijikata (23) coasted to an emphatic 6-1, 6-2 victory over David Goffin (34).

08:18 CET - There were plenty of big names in action at the Adelaide International overnight, with sixth seed Diana Shnaider (20) seeing off Katerina Siniakova (28) 6-3, 0-6, 6-0 in a topsy-turvy match and Maria Sakkari (29) easing past talented Czech Linda Noskova (20) 6-3, 6-3 in impressive fashion.
Elsewhere, there were also victories for Madison Keys (29), Liudmila Samsonova (26) and Jelena Ostapenko (27).
