Lecce v Bologna (28/09/2025)

Rock-bottom Lecce will look to finally grab their first win of the 2025/26 Serie A season when they welcome an inconsistent Bologna.

Match News and Current Form

It’s been a miserable start to the season so far for Lecce, as a 2-1 loss to Cagliari last time out made it three defeats in succession and no win in four to open up this league campaign. It’s the hosts’ home form that has been particularly disappointing for quite a while now, winning just one of their last 13 Serie A games at Stadio Via del Mare (D3, L9), which includes two defeats from two this season. That doesn’t make great reading as they look to avoid an unwanted omen here - the three prior times they’ve had one or fewer points after five Serie A games, they’ve gone on to be relegated to the second tier.

Bologna travel having lost all three of their away matches this season, including a slender 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa in midweek UEFA Europa League action. In the league, the visitors’ losing streak now stretches to four away games in succession and if they want to avoid losing five in a row for the first time since October 2020, they’ll need to find a way to improve upon their measly three-goal Serie A output so far this term. History is firmly conspiring against them though, as they’ve failed to win any of their opening three Serie A away games in four of the last five seasons.

Head-to-Head History

Lecce have won just three of their prior 32 Serie A matches against Bologna (D13, L16). Amongst teams they’ve played 20+ times in the competition, they only have fewer victories against Roma and Milan.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Lecce’s Antonino Gallo has provided six assists since his Serie A debut in the 2022/23 season - the most by any Italian defender during that period. Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini has netted two goals across four league games this term, with each of his last 14 in Serie A having now arrived in the second half.

Lecce appear to have virtually a clean bill of health, as too do Bologna.

Betting Analysis

With Lecce and Bologna only scoring five Serie A goals between them this season, backing under 1.5 goals looks appealing.
